Located in an equestrian estate in Johannesburg adjacent to a bridle path and green belt. The existing uninspired 70’s building has undergone a dramatic conversion. The renovation predominantly utilizes the existing ground floor footprint as the base for a new two-storey country home.

Due to the scale of the property, important considerations in the design of the new home was to create a sense of arrival, which is achieved through the creation of a generous car court, which is framed by the placement of the main house, cottage and studio building.

The main house living spaces are designed with high ceilings, and large windows, all anchored around a central kitchen space, opening onto a generous patio. A central double volume space also creates a visual connection between the ground and first floor spaces.
