The existing Cape Dutch family home underwent an extensive renovation which included a new generous patio, a complete rebuild of the first floor, roof and gables.

 

The traditional principles of symmetry and axes were retained in order to enhance the historical character of the home, whilst simultaneously opening up the existing living rooms in order to better complement modern living.

 

A key characteristic of the home was the central entrance hallway, which connects the front door through to the pool garden. This was enhanced through the increasing the width by relocating the staircase and increasing its scale to be a key signature of the entrance, as well introducing a large open volume which visually connects the entrance hall to the first floor.

 

The interior design and articulation is a curated eclectic composition of colour and creativity, a wonderful expression of the clients personality.
